Yesterday, on Nov 8, I lost my beloved cat Charly, suddenly and unexpected!! Charly was only 15 years old, this means Charly was 78 cat-years old.

Charly screamed in panic Friday night shortly before midnight, like he had never screamed before. And he panted and breathed quickly. He was ok 1/2 hour before when we kissed goodnight. I called the vet and he said come to my vet's office. He got medicine, painkillers, something for the heart and a very light sedative. We should come again next morning. We did, and he said, his heart beats too fast and we should go into the animal hospital. We did! They checked him and said, Charly has had a pulmonary edema, probably caused by the heart. He must stay there or he will die. So I left him there to save his life. This was around noon. They called me shortly after 5pm, saying Charly is feeling worst and we should come as fast as possible. But we were too late. He died a few minutes before we arrived. I'm so sorry, my darling Charly, that I wasn't there in your last minutes. I love you so much and I miss you so terribly!!
Charly came to me on December 15, 1994. 4 days before on Dec 12 I lost my first cat Tibby. Charly was one year old. His former owners abandoned him. Some nice woman, who worked for the local CAT HELP, fed him and was looking for a new home. If she hadn't found one, she would have adopted him. We drove there to bring him home and when we first met, he runned in our direction as if he know that he now gets a new home and some cat siblings.
At home, he hid under the heating for the first 2 hours and then for the next hour under a pile of pillows. After that he started exploring the house (with wide spreaded paws cause the hole house floors are covered with a soft carpet) and met his new sister Jenny (which I lost in March this year - see
here).
He was a happy lil fluffball, my little tigerflake. And even happier when we adopted his brother Nikky on Nov 3, 1996. Nikky was also abandoned and came to our house each day and got milk and food over the summer. In the night from Nov 2nd to 3rd, Nikky slept for the first time in the house.
Charly loved his little brother Nikky so much and was afraid when he came home late. And now, Nikky is the only cat I still have!!
Today I burried him in the garden, behind the grave of Tibby. So now it's a double grave!! With yellow pansies and a big bux kitty on it. There's a big stone in front of the bux kitty and a ceramic kitty lies on it.
The week started with my birthday ( and the chimney sweeper came on that day and I thought I'll be favored by fortune for the next year of my life) and ends with the death of my second cat, Charly!! Life isn't fair!!

Tomorrow I'll start looking for a new cat, so Nikky isn't alone. Nikky is looking for his brother Charly, here in the house and in the garden. Nikky's in grief, too!
Charly helped me to overcome my deep grief over the lost of Tibby. And so will the new kitty help me with my deep grief now!!
I'm so sorry Charly that I wasn't there in your last minute. I love you so much, forever and a day!! And I miss you so terribly!! You are now a sweet kitty angel and hopefully you'll find a nice cozy place in Paradise and meet your sister Jenny again!! Jenny knows Tibby, so please - get friends, too. You're a family! Goodbye my sweet love, Charly!!! I'll never forget you!!

just as you chose Charly, he chose you and you shared life paths for many years.
i'm sure he enjoyed sharing his life with you as much as you enjoyed sharing yours with him.
